Julia is getting to be more of a handful, now that she is on the move.  She is still ‘creeping’ instead of crawling, but she can pull herself to a standing position.  The first time I saw her do this on her own, she used my camera bag to pull herself up.

I LOVE sleeping baby pictures.

This is Julia and her Ong Noi (grandpa).  She didn’t let him hold her for two days, but he was very happy that she was happy with him here.

She stayed still just long enough for me to get this photo.

Ok, ok, so she wasn’t happy but isn’t she cute in the pumpkin patch?

Here she is in her penguin costume.

Look at those two “teef”.  Our friends Erin and David gave her the rabbit.

Uh-oh she’s not a penguin anymore because she pulled off her hat.  She’s playing with her doll named Julia from our friend Lauren.

We just got these blocks for her at our friend Danielle’s awesome toy store called “The Toy Space,” which specializes in educational, environmentally friendly, safe toys.

Here she is at her friend Zoey’s first birthday party, which took place earlier today.

Last but not least, here is Julia a few months ago with her great-grandma and great-grandpa.  We didn’t go trick-or-treating this year because her great-grandma’s funeral was on Halloween.  I’m glad that Julia got to meet her great-grandma (and vice-versa) and that we took lots of photos of them together that Julia will be able to enjoy when she gets older.

My associate, Janette (who photographed many of the weddings on this blog) gave birth to her baby boy, Max on Thanksgiving weekend. She ALSO had a 6 hour labour. She didn’t call her midwife until she was in the transition phase, by which point, upon examination, her midwife said “I hope you’re planning a homebirth because his head is already starting to come out.” Max was born (at home) shortly after and weighed in at 10 pounds 5 ounces. He was 24 inches long.

This is just a sneak preview, since Max was only about 2 days old here so we didn’t do a formal photo shoot.

Max a couple of days after birth

This should tide you over until the next batch of Julia pics, which will be coming soon as she is nearly 9 months old!

Stay tuned because there will also be photos of baby MAX! Janette’s baby, who is now one month old.

Just so you know, she DOES like every vegetable we’ve introduced so far!

I arrived at Nadia and Andrew’s apartment and Nadia asked if I could take a quick picture of them with the cat, Chardonnay.  I asked if Andrew got along with the cat and she said, “Yes.  Except for that time he left her in the fridge overnight.”  Apparently, Chardonnay likes to climb into the fridge.  Andrew was putting groceries away one day and Chardonnay climbed in. The next morning Nadia asked him where her cat was. That was 9 hours later.  Chardonnay climbed out of the fridge let out a ‘meow’ and was cool as a cucumber.  Andrew is a physicist, so he calculated the volume of oxygen in the fridge and proclaimed “Don’t worry, Chardonnay had 3-4 more hours.”

Happily, Nadia forgave him and accepted his proposal.  Of course, it is 5 years later now….but mainly because they were both busy finishing up grad school at McMaster, where they met, than any other reason.

We walked to the Adamson Estate for the outdoor photos.

I love a good leaf fight!

Aren’t they sweet?

Goin’ for the big kiss.

Now that’s passion!

This couple loves kissing!

Nadia wanted a ‘walking shot’. When I showed her the photos on my LCD she said, “Those look like they come from a cheesy magazine,” which I thought was a bad thing until she added, “That is EXACTLY what I was hoping for.”

This is where Andrew proposed.

Amanda e-mailed me last year to ask if I was available on July 19.  I wasn’t.  She wrote back something along the lines of, “Ok, it doesn’t look like our wedding will be a go for 2008 so we’ll get married in 2009 instead.”  She called me IMMEDIATELY after she got engaged and we chatted for about an hour!

Brian and Amanda have been dating since 2002 and they are still totally, completely passionate about each other-which made for a very ‘easy’ engagement session at Erindale Park.

They constantly looked at each other this way.

Their Havanese, Keira is only 7 months old, but she was incredibly well behaved.

We found some stumps in the forest, which they sat on.

Isn’t this a cute family?

The fall colours are out!!! Oh and it was 20 degrees celsius!!! Unfortunately, the mosquitos were out in full force too.

Play time!!!

Doesn’t Brian have the coolest car?  They even took it on a camping trip!

In 2004, I had the pleasure of photographing a very nice couple named Dawn and Craig.  We reconnected and I found out they have since had not one, but TWO babies that are exactly one year apart!  They contacted me to do a family portrait shoot so they could give Dawn’s nanny pictures for her 90th birthday.

These are ‘the grandchildren’.  Dawn and her sister are on the right and their cousins are on the left.  I’m not 100% sure why it took 3 people to carry a Muskoka chair, but I think it’s a funny pic that shows the family dynamic.

Memories of their childhood…yet the younger sister is pushing the older one (ok, that’s because it made more sense from a ‘levels’ perspective to have the shorter one on the swing).

When’s the last time YOU climbed a tree?

The whole family!

I did a few pictures of ‘each’ family in the above shot. Here is the first one.  They were serious and sweet.

Dawn’s sister, Amanda is always laughing.

It seems like this family has fun together.

Dawn and Craig’s family is a handful, but fun!

Everyone again.

We were super lucky with the great weather and great property!

Thanks to Dawn’s Uncle Tom and Aunt Barbara for letting us use their propery again (the first time was for their engagement photos).

Julia is now:

Turning in circles and rolling over regularly.

Almost crawling.

Saying “Dadadadada.”

Eating solids regularly.  She loves cauliflower, sweet potatoes and cereal with fun things in it like bananas and prunes or other fruit.  She dislikes blackberries and pears.

We got together with, Joanna whose mom used to babysit me, her mom and her baby, Jack who was born in June.

Jack was on his tummy and he was upset.  Julia put her hand over his.

Jack and Julia were quite fascinated with each other.

I’m not sure why Julia has liked chewing on everything ever since she discovered she could, since she still doesn’t have any teeth.

I have no idea what’s so interesting, but it seems Julia is quite fascinated with everyday objects now (paper, CD cases, sheets, just about anything she can get her little hands on).

Our friends Dave and Patricia had baby Lila in June.  Don’t they look like sisters?

Janette’s baby is due any day now! She may even be in labour as I write this.

Julia loves being kissed.

Julia is a mover and a shaker. Fortunately, she hasn’t yet figured out how to move from point a to point b, but I have a feeling it will happen soon.

Here she is in the position she loves and hates. I say that because you put her down on her back, then she rolls onto her tummy. She seems to enjoy being on her tummy for a few minutes, but then she realizes she can’t get on her back again and becomes very unhappy. We flip her onto her back again, then boom…within seconds she lands on her tummy.  Life is so repetitive.

Step 1.  Cobra position

Step 2.  Maybe I should use my arms…

I am trying to tell you something mommy….can you see that I’m making the ‘milk’ sign with my right hand?  Do you think I can eat and crawl at the same time?

3.  I’m happy to see you.

She’s not only trying to figure out how to crawl now, she is also learning how to eat solid food!

Step 1.  Eat bib.

Step 2.  Look cute

Step 3.  Stuff my mouth…and if you’re lucky, I will spit at you.

If you’re real lucky, I will get it all over me. Good thing you usually have me eat in my birthday suit!

Now I lift my legs up when I know my diaper’s going to be changed.

Mommy and daddy are really lucky, because I am very good at sleeping.  I even sleep through the night sometimes now!

Kathy and Kevin met through their church softball league (apparently baseball/softball is a good way to meet your significant other).  Kathy and I were both bridesmaids in Lindsay’s wedding 3 years ago, so I was very excited to photograph Kathy’s wedding. Mr. Right and her own wedding day finally arrived along with the sunshine in a very rainy week.

Here’s Kathy at her parents house with her 2 1/2 year old niece and flower girl, Ella.

Kathy and Kevin got married St. Stephen’s Anglican- a small country church in Hornby Ontario, that looked like something out of The Road to Avonlea.

Kathy anxiously and eagerly walking down the aisle.

I love how happy Kathy, Kevin and her maid of honour, Carolyn are in this photo.

Two became one.

We went to The Adamson Estates for the photo session.

Aren’t they sweet together?

Their reception took place at Otello’s in Oakville.

People were able to get them to kiss lots!

Reacting to the speeches.

Kathy and Kevin were quite shocked that Lins’ mom gave them lingerie.

Isn’t that an awesome cake topper?  Their friend Gillian made the cake.

Congrats, Kathy and Kevin!!!

Sheila, who will hereby be referred to by her nickname ”Odie” and Alex met playing baseball many years ago, so they went with that theme for the wedding.  They met in Toronto, but continued dating (in spite of the long distance) when Alex went to school in California and when he moved to NYC, she was able to get a great job there too.

Odie majored in music-and piano for a few years at Cawthra Secondary School.  Here is the stunning bride with a beautiful piano.

Alex is all smiles as he finishes up getting ready before the ceremony.

They made these awesome bride and groom stuffed animals at Build-A-Bear.

They were planning an outdoor ceremony, but it poured rain.  At least one person didn’t mind at all.

Odie and her dad before their big walk down the aisle.  Odie was super cool about the rain and needing to move the ceremony indoors.  She’s likely the most relaxed bride I’ve ever photographed.

It was evident throughout the ceremony that they had been waiting for this day for a long time.

Laughing, relaxing and enjoying each other’s company after the ceremony and en route to The Lakefront Promenade for photos.

We had to work very quickly due to the impending thunderstorm, but it made for some really nice, moody photographs.

The light was super nice on Odie and Alex.

Here’s a photo from the Credit Valley Golf Course, where the ceremony and reception took place.

The tables all had flags from different baseball teams and even the seating arrangements were accompanied by positions..ie. John Smith is playing CF (Centre Field) for the Dodgers.

First dance.

Odie wrote and sang a song for Alex about how they met through baseball and now, here they are married to each other.  It was so heartfelt and romantic that I actually cried!

Senharitiria, Odie and Alex!

Special thanks to the awesome Dave Chang-Sang for pinch hitting as my second shooter.
